25 Days of Christmas and Holiday Series : Day 7

Quick Change No-Sew Holiday Pillow Cover

Got about three minutes, a piece of holiday fabric, ribbon and a pillow that you already own?   Then you got a quick change no-sew way to add pizazz to your decor.  No need to spend a ton of cash on fancy holiday pillows or drag your sewing machine out.

I have a big pillow that sits on the Adirondack chair at my front door.  I want to create a little holiday cheer at the front door without buying a new pillow.  So instead, I take a piece of bright happy Christmas fabric and cover the pillow in an envelop style.  Here's how...

First I lay the fabric down wrong side up on the floor with the pillow placed in the middle.
Starting with the bottom edge and then the top edge of the fabric, I fold them over the center of the pillow.  Make sure you lap the top one over the bottom one.

Grab the right and left sides of the fabric and bring them into the middle. Tie them like you would shoe laces, only stop before making the bow.  Just tuck the extra ends back under in order to hiding them.

Take a nice, decorative ribbon (I prefer wired ribbon) and slide it under the tied side pieces.

Tie the ribbon like you would on a present. This secures the fabric in place.
Add a nice bow.  There you have it!  A decorative pillow in about 3 minutes!  It almost looks like a present all on it's own!

After the holiday, you can remove the fabric and you have your decorative pillow back.  You can store your fabric with your decorations for next year.  No waste!  Here is my Christmas pillow sitting at my front door on my Adirondack chair. Fun!

I also 'wrap' several pillows in my living room.  Its a great, quick way to change the look of a sofa.  I try to always use wired ribbon because if someone sits against the pillow and crushes the bow, it is easier to spruce up!

Hope you enjoyed this quick idea.  It gave me more time to spend on re-planting my front door pots and water garden.  Nice to freshening things up for my holiday guests!

I also gave my buddies the flamingos who roast near my front door a little sprucing up too!

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for my

Now that I know you have flamingos I KNOW why I like you so much!! LOL
Ok, that pillow idea is too stinkin' cute! Don't you think you should compile all this in a book to sell at one of the craft giant stores? Oh, and I really will try to figure out how to "grab" the button to display on my blog one of these days. (Hopefully before Day 25). Deb

Love that pillow. It looks great on your white chair. What do the ones in your living room look like? Did you use the same fabric?
